Season of Cambodia

Professors Boreth Ly (UC-Santa Cruz) and Khatharya Um (UC- Berkeley) will curate and moderate a symposium that features some of the most renowned contemporary artists from Cambodia: Sophiline Cheam Shapiro, Him Sophy, and Sopheap Pich, on topics relating to “Year Zero” and, in particular, the moment of reconstruction after “Year Zero”. Topics will include the current situation of the arts in Cambodia, visions for the future, the challenges of collaboration and the role of the imagination and artistic expression in Cambodia.
